The Upward - Seth JonesIt’s about the music. It’s about the words. It’s about the songs.

Bringing together the sounds and styles of rock and roll and country music in a truly unique way was never a goal of Seth Jones. It’s simply what happened when he began writing songs when he was in his first year of high school. Over the years, his music began to evolve. Going from simple and poppy, to complex and edgy, and finally settling in a place that spans the spectrum, Seth Jones has a musical style that offers something truly different, without being too far gone.

Seth Jones began playing drums in his grandfather’s church band at the age of 14. At the age of 17, he began forming bands in high school. Seth drummed and sang in most of his bands, but he was truly passionate about writing the songs. “I learned to play the guitar, specifically so that I could write songs independently” says Seth Jones, lead singer and guitar player of The Upward. “I wrote so many songs before I got serious about playing them for people.”

Some time around 2010, Seth Jones met Mike McClure in Tyler, TX and they became acquaintances. 8 years later, they began working on two studio albums. Under the name “The Upward”, Seth Jones seeks to bring people music and lyrical style that have not been heard.

With deep lyrics and unique melodies, The Upward delivers genuine songs with passion and grit. “I want people to feel joy, pain, and maybe do some deep thinking during one of our shows. And I hope they leave with a new perspective or two” says Seth. “I put a lot into my songs and I know that there is a lot to get out of them”.
